Carey Price explains that he received a message from Pat Burns, it was delivered to him pre-season by assistant coach Kirk Muller who played with Burns, the strange thing Price and Burns actually never got to meet. Price had Burn’s initials on his helmet Saturdays night vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs where he stopped 30 shots in a 2-0 shutout win.
“He sent me a message before the season and it really touched me,” said Price “I was surprised it came out of the blue, he’s a special person. He did a lot of great things for both these teams and he was definitely in our hearts.”
Carey wasn’t sharing the content of the letter, he said only that Pat Burns words “”will always be here with me,” as he tapped on his heart.”It was just something out of the blue. Kirkie passed it on to me and it means a lot.”
Burns Funeral will be held November 29th at 2:30 pm at Montreal’s Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, 1085 rue de la Cathédrale. New Jersey Devils says that Pat’s family will receive condolences beginning at 1:30 pm, in lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in Pat Burns name to:
